It was Love Restored that led me to Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery Ink- series. The mentions of the relationship that gets started in Ink Enduring were just too enticing to pass.
I loved the book. And it didn’t matter, that I hadn’t read the previous books apart from the first and second book in the series. Carrie Ann Ryan writes stories that have a good flow, all I’m missing is little more depth. Not to the characters but to the story itself, just little more meat around the bones would make them perfect.
He was all she needed.
And when he went to Border because se wasn’t all he needed, she wouldn’t feel jealous.
Because she couldn’t, not really. And that fact sould have worried her, only it didn’t.
Everything had changed, and yet all Maya Montgomery knew, was that she’d endure the ride and maybe, just maybe, find the peace she’d always searched for.

Cheese burger was something Border ate, when he first arrived to town. And the description of that was just too delicous to pass. For this recipe you need also make the perfect hamburger buns, the recipe is here.
1000 g ground pork
500 g ground beef
300 g onion
3 cloves of garlic
1 tbs olive oil
3 tbs strong honey mustard
2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground white pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika powder
- Peel the onions and garlic. Chop them fine and sauté them on a frying pan in olive oil until soft and translucent. Don’t brown the onions.
2. Knead together the ground meat, cooled onions and the spices.
3. Make 15 patties out of the batter. You can either bake them in oven in 225 ºC or fry them in frying pan in olive oil. If you are making cheese burgers right away, it makes sense to fry them in a pan, and once you turn the patty over, you can add the cheese slices to melt on top of them.
4. I used cheddar and gouda cheese and I made my own mayonnaise, but this time instead of paprika, I seasoned the mayonnaise with green jalapeno sauce, some lime and salt.
This is a bit unconventional love story.
13 years ago Maya Montgomery and Jake Gallagher shared a short moment of passion together but then they chose to ignore it. Now they are best friends and they’re letting nothing destroy it. But something’s changed, Maya wants more.
Jake is ready to settle down. He truly wants that. With Holly, she’ perfect for him, or that’s what he thought. Until Holly decides to leave him and makes Jake face the truth.
Border is ready to come home. He has finally enough courage to face the love he left behind all those years ago. He’s not sure what he’s coming home to, but one thing is certain; he’s not backing down this time.
This is a story of three people in verge of gaining something incredible; the most beautiful, fulfilling love or losing it all, forever. This is a story of fear of taking that final step, fear of opening one’s heart and a story of courage. Maya, Jake and Border need to make the decision between going after what they want and need or giving into society’s norms and losing their one chance to happiness in the process.
I love, love Carrie Ann Ryan. I love her bearded, growly hunks. And I love how she writes her women; independent, self-confident, not-taking-shit-from-anyone females.
