Syrups with different flavours are easy to make. There is basically three ingredients; water, sugar and the ingredient to give the flavour.
I made vanilla syrup to compliment my next dish.
1. Put the water in to a pan and bring it to boil.
2. Slice the vanilla bean and scrape the seeds. Add the vanilla bean and the seeds to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 to 25 minutes.
3. Remove the vanilla bean from the water and add sugar. Let it simmer for a half an hour, until the consistency resembles clear honey (it won’t be as thick).
4. Store in a glass jar in fridge. It has at least two weeks shelf life.
